Levent Sönmez, born in 1962 in Ankara, graduated from Istanbul Technical University’s Faculty of Maritime Studies with a degree in Ship Machinery Management Engineering in 1985.

After graduation, he completed the Contemporary Management Techniques Postgraduate Program at Marmara University & Maine University and the SITC (Swiss Re) Marine Insurance program. He has participated in numerous training programs both domestically and internationally and holds a Dip. CII degree from the Chartered Insurance Institute in London.

Following his work in the maritime sector, Levent Sönmez began his insurance career in 1991 at Anadolu Sigorta as an Assistant Risk Management Specialist in the Marine Insurance Department. After holding various technical and regional management positions within the company, he was promoted to Deputy General Manager in 2008.

From that time until August 2022, Sönmez was responsible for managing units such as Non-Auto and Non-Health Individual and Corporate Technical, Corporate Sales, Marketing and Digital Insurance, and Risk Engineering. In August 2022, he retired but continued to serve as a General Manager Advisor at Anadolu Sigorta until June 2023. Currently, he continues his work as a Senior Management Consultant and serves as a Board Member at Nart Insurance.
