Situations Where a Traffic Accident Report Is Not Valid for Property Damage:

In the following cases, the report must be prepared by traffic police:

  • If only one vehicle is involved (single-vehicle traffic accident with property damage)
  • If one of the vehicles is driven by someone under 18 years of age
  • If one of the drivers involved does not have a valid driver’s license or their license is not sufficient for the type of vehicle being driven
  • If at least one of the vehicles does not have traffic insurance
  • If there is suspicion that any of the drivers are under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or stimulants
  • If there is suspicion regarding the mental health of the drivers
  • If one of the vehicles involved belongs to a public institution or organization (except for ambulances and emergency medical vehicles belonging to the Ministry of Health)
  • If public property or third-party property has been damaged in the accident
  • If there is death or injury among drivers or pedestrians, the accident report must be prepared by traffic police.

In such cases, the police or gendarmerie must be called immediately, and the vehicles should not be moved until they arrive. If any of the above conditions apply, but the accident report has not been prepared by the authorities, you must inform the traffic police responsible for the area as soon as possible and request a report.

Points to Consider for Electronic Device Damage Claims:

  • Theft occurring in open or publicly accessible places, as well as risks of loss or forgetting, are not covered.
  • Necessary rescue and protection measures must be taken.
  • Theft of portable devices from a vehicle is covered only between 06:00 and 22:00, provided that the vehicle is locked and the device is stored in the trunk, out of sight, with no one in the vehicle. (The vehicle must be covered with hard material such as steel or metal.)
  • Fixed devices are covered at the specified risk location; portable devices are covered within the borders of the Republic of Turkey.
  • If a damaged part cannot be sourced and the device becomes unusable, a replacement part of equivalent quality will be provided.
  • Electrical damage and voltage fluctuations will be covered if the insured device and electronic equipment are equipped with integrated voltage regulators and alarm systems, and if the devices are operated according to the user manual.
  • Consumables and wear-and-tear parts that need to be replaced after a certain period of use (such as fuses, gaskets, belts, bearings, etc.) as well as magnetic disks, tapes, cards, and similar media used for data storage in electronic information processing systems, are not covered for physical damage or loss.
  • COMPENSATION FOR THEFT OR DAMAGE THAT OCCURS DUE TO FAILURE TO TAKE NECESSARY PRECAUTIONS WILL BE RECOVERED FROM THE RESPONSIBLE PARTY.

Steps to Take in Case of Theft:

  • For notebook theft, report the incident to the nearest police station or gendarmerie and obtain a Statement Report (a statement detailing how the incident occurred made by the employee involved). The report should include the notebook’s brand and serial number, and a Witness Report (a report where the police officers provide their findings after investigating the incident). The reports must bear the original “Certified True Copy” stamp and signature.
  • In the Witness Report, the police officer must note that there was forced entry into the vehicle or house (e.g., broken glass, broken lock, removed door lock, etc.); otherwise, compensation may not be paid due to negligence.
  • The reports obtained from the police or gendarmerie must be sent to NART.
